The Athenian Academy

The Athenian Academy Model United Nations

AAR established their Model United Nations team in the Fall of 2008. With a hope that students would develop an appreciation for the international community and benefit from the opportunity to learn about international events through a cross-curricular approach. Over the course the last several years we have gone from a small team of four students to a large, award winning team.

  • Since 2010, The Athenian Academy has been recognized with at least one delegate award at each conference we attend.
  • In 2012, The Athenian Academy was the only Virginia "school" represented at the United Nations Association of the United States Global Classrooms International Model United Nations Conference in New York City. Here we competed against thousands of students from 24 countries from around the world. Six of the seven students that attended received awards and were recognized on the floor of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
  • In 2013, The Athenian Academy was awarded the Secretary General's Award for Best Delegation at George Mason University's Midatlantic Simulation of the United Nations (MASUN). We are the smallest and only homeschool delegation to have ever won this award.

I hope you will consider being a part of our team!
